U13 GIRLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Who:

Open registration for year 7 & 8 athletes who want to participate in a development programme, and festivals that aims to extend them beyond their club and school playing experiences. 

Athletes must meet the below criteria:

• Must be Year 7 & 8 at school.

• Must play for a club or school team entered in the HSC Primary Competition.

Programme and Festival Details

• Programme that will consist of a mixture of training, match play and festivals. 

• The first 2 x development sessions will be development focused sessions working on core hockey skills, fitness and game awareness.

• After the 2 x development training sessions ALL players will be named in teams and then train with their team coaches. 

• Players named in the Development Teams will attend the Alpiners Festival in Timaru on Saturday 6th September v teams form Mid Canterbury and Canterbury.  

• Players named in the Regional Teams will play Mid Canterbury in Timaru on Saturday 13th September and attend the Alpiners Regional Festival in Christchurch on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September v teams from Mid Canterbury, Marlborough and Canterbury. 

The following should be used as guidelines when players are registering for the Hockey South Canterbury Under 13 Development Programme

• High level of coachability

• Versatility in a range of positions

• Willingness to learn

• Team Player/loves hockey and has a positive attitude with great sportsmanship

Under 13 Girls Training and Festival/Tournament Dates:

Wednesday Afternoons – between 4pm and 7pm (training times will be confirmed once registrations close)

Wednesday 13th August - Development Session

Wednesday 20th August – Development Session

Wednesday 27th August – Team practices (All teams)

Wednesday 3rd September – Team practices (All teams)

Saturday 6th September – Alpiners Development Festival (Development teams only - 7 aside) in Timaru

Wednesday 10th September – (Regional team only) – Team practice

Saturday 13th September – Games v Mid Canterbury (Regional Only) in Timaru

Wednesday 17th September (Regional team only) – Team practice

Wednesday 24th September (Regional team only) – Team practice

Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September – Under 13 Regional Tournament in Christchurch 

Cost: $70.00 per player.   

The $70.00 cost will cover turf hire, training gear, coaching, administration-based costs, the Alpiners Development Festival and the one-off game v Mid Canterbury for the Regional teams. This will be invoiced by Hockey South Canterbury and must be paid before the programme commences.  If payment is an issue, please contact us to discuss options. 

• Please note: players named in the regional team/s to attend the Alpiners Regional Tournament in Christchurch have additional costs. Please see further down regarding these costings.

Under 13 Girls/Boys Regional Tournament Information– Christchurch 

After the first 2 x Development Sessions 11 aside boy’s and girls’ team will be chosen from all Year 7 and 8 registered boys and girls who will form our U13 Regional teams. 

These teams will play v Mid Canterbury on Saturday 13th September in Timaru and attend the Regional two-day festival in Christchurch on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September playing teams from Mid Canterbury, Canterbury and Marlborough. Players costs are to be confirmed but will include transport, turf and entry costs, accommodation, and food for the weekend.  Approximate cost $180 per player.  

Hockey South Canterbury Hoodies

All players who take part in the Under 13 programme can purchase a Hockey South Canterbury Hoodie. The hoodies are an additional cost and are approximately $55 each.  An order form will be emailed out with hoodies samples made available to try on for size at the first couple of development sessions. 

We do encourage each player to have a hoodie as they do look smart as part of the team at the festivals, but we also understand that as they come as an extra cost this might not be possible for everyone.  Where possible we can set up payment plans for these extras and the development programme costs so, please touch base with me if you require any support around this.
